We will be using a new reading series this year. The series that the district has chosen is Journeys by Houghton-Mifflin. We will use this series in our English Language Arts block. The students will be exposed to many different materials and methods. We will be sending information home as needed. Please help us by Reading to your child for 15 minutes each night. We also need you to practice his/her sight words nightly.
These are our Reading targets for term 1 I can write a complete sentence. I can use letter-sound knowledge to decode, spell and write words. I can use proper handwriting. I can read my basic sight words. I can retell and make predictions about a story. I can read books at my level with increasing my fluency and comprehension.
